If you already have an IRP account, we can manage it for you by:
- Reminding you when your tags are due and submitting your renewal and payment
- Adding or removing a unit when needed
- Transferring a plate to another unit
- Keeping it up to date with Carrier information if applicable
- Submitting any address changes if needed
- And more

What does IRP Mean for Truckers?
IRP stands for International Registration Plan. If your commercial unit travels across state lines (interstate), and your units’ gross weight is over 26,000 lbs. or has 3 or more axles, you are required to register for IRP plates, also known as apportioned plates.
This allows each state you travel through to get a portion of the revenue that you pay each year when renewing your registration for your tag(s).
How Long Will It Take To Get My IRP Tags?
Once your paperwork and documentation have been submitted to IRP, we will let you know when your invoice is ready, usually in a few days. Once you pay the invoice, you should receive your plate(s) and cab card(s) in the mail within two weeks. We will also email you a temporary registration if applicable and a copy of your cab card(s).
You can use these copies as you wait for the originals to arrive in the mail, but only if you have your current IFTA decals in place also.
When Is My IRP Tag Due?
The month your IRP is due depends what state you reside in. For Georgia, the month for renewal depends on what name your IRP account is in. If it is in your name, it will go by the first letter of your last name. If it is in your business name, it will go by the first letter of the business name.
Your renewal needs to be submitted by the end of the month before your renewal month. This allows the State time to generate an invoice for you. Payment of the invoice needs to be paid by the 15th of the month your tag(s) renew to give the State time to mail out your credentials before your current tag(s) expire.
There is a late filing penalty if it is not submitted on time and there is a late payment fee if it is not paid on time.
