The Limited Liability Company is what most truck companies apply for in Georgia. This is because it is less risky when it comes to the business’ assets if sued for some reason. This business structure offers limited personal liability on the part of the owner.

What are the requirements to start an LLC in Georgia?

You will need to apply for your LLC with the state of Georgia.

Have Ready:

  • Your business name. We recommend you choose three names in order of preference.
    • If you only supply one name, and it is not available for some reason, then you will need to reapply and pay the $100 fee again.
    • By supplying three names, you eliminate this possibility.
    • Make sure the names include the LLC at the end
      • Ex. ABC Trucking LLC, ABC Hauling LLC, ABC Logistics LLC
  • Both the principal and mailing address of your business
  • Valid email address
  • Name and addresses of Organizers and/or Members if applicable.
  • Name and address of your Registered Agent.

How much does an LLC cost in GA?

To start an LLC in GA, the state will charge you $100.

How long does it take to get LLC approved in Georgia?

Once the application is submitted, it can take from 7-10 days and up to two weeks before the LLC is approved.

Do LLCs pay taxes in Georgia?

Do you need a registered agent for your LLC in Georgia?

Yes, you will need a registered agent. The registered agent must be a person or business that:

Does an LLC expire in Georgia?

There is an annual registration fee of $50 that needs to be paid before April 1st of every year. If paid after April 1st, there will be a late fee of $25 assessed.

If the annual registration fee is not paid, the state will process an involuntary dissolution. You will then have to pay to have it reinstated.
